Wine of the Month

We have some exciting new wines over the coming months to share with for the summer which include the Wicks estate Sparkling, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz. These are premium wines from the picturesque Adelaide Hills which is one of Australia’s premier cook climate wine growing regions.

The 2017 Chardonnay Pinot Noir
Fashioned with vibrant fruit and sparkling purity, this early release style vintaged sparkling is based upon the most famous sparkling wine varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Blended from two clones of Chardonnay and two clones of Pinot Noir, these carefully selected parcels from our Estate vineyards were meticulously nurtured through the winemaking process in order to retain their pristine fruit flavours and delicate aromatic nuances. The sparking has a bright pale straw with lifted fresh green apple and white stone fruits aroma.

2017 Sauvignon Blanc
In a relatively short time, Wicks Estate has established itself as one the most consistent and highly regarded producers of Sauvignon Blanc in the Adelaide Hills. Halliday Wine Companion Wine Reviews gave this wine 93 points noting “Intensity is the key. The burst of tropical fruit flavour is impressive. It’s cool and pure like driven snow, a tickle of lemongrass-like flavour helping it all to extend out through the finish. Value almost goes without saying”

2017 Shiraz
Vibrant flavours evident when sampling in the vineyard carried through to the resulting wines with great natural acidity balanced against the rich bright flavours and the spicy fruit backdrop, indicative of the wines’ cool climate origins. The Shiraz is alive with aromas of violets, plums and berry fruits, this wine displays a softly textured palate with hints of chocolate, cool climate spice and subtle oak flavours – a sexy, stylish cool climate shiraz.
